Wonderful late spring evenings (Moon, Whirlpool Galaxy and Iris Nebula)

The late spring evenings (at least with me) have brought lovely clear skies - some cold and some very mild. Either way a real pleasure to be out and looking up.

To this end I have also been able to get some really good data on a few targets. As with all DSLRs though, noise is a real issue especially when the temperatures are quite mild and the Canon 600D is no exception.
I think it is something that just has to be accepted to some degree at this level, although it can be looked at when post processing.

So, without further ado ..... here they are:

The Moon - ISO400 1/250

Messier 51 (M51) Whirlpool Galazy in Canes Venatici - 2 hour total integration at ISO800

Iris Nebula (NGC7023) - 3 hour 37 min total integration at ISO1600

P.S. It was also the remit of this blog to report on the coffee we were drinking whilst observing and this has gone by the wayside. So ...... to report ..... I have been drinking Horsham Coffee Roaster's Columbia Sugarcane Decaf. Lovely.
